Child Resistant Pouches

A child-resistant pouch has a closure that takes two deliberate, simultaneous actions to open — press and slide — which a small child has not yet developed the motor coordination to do. It is a safety component, not a feature, and it is the only thing in our range where the closure matters more than the film.

The build. PET/MET-PET/PE at 150 micron, matte, opaque, printed up to eight colours. Very high barrier. The opacity is deliberate and part of the safety case: a pack a child cannot see into is a pack a child is less interested in opening.

The closure. A certified child-resistant press-and-slide zip, fitted at manufacture. Certification belongs to the closure component and its correct application, which is why we fit it rather than shipping the zip separately. It is also tamper evident and fully resealable, so the pack stays child resistant for its whole life rather than only until it is first opened.

What it is for. Pharmaceuticals, nicotine products, agrochemicals and supplements. In several of these categories child-resistant packaging is a legal requirement rather than a choice, and the specific standard depends on your product class and the market you sell into.

What we will and will not tell you. We will tell you the closure specification, give you its certification documents, and confirm what we fitted. We will not tell you whether that satisfies your regulatory obligation — that depends on your product, your jurisdiction and often on testing of the filled pack rather than the empty one. Check with your regulatory advisor before you commit to a run, and tell us what standard you need to meet so we can confirm in writing whether this closure meets it. Getting this wrong is not a packaging problem, it is a recall.

Ordering. Minimum 3,000 pieces, lead time 26 working days. Both numbers are higher than a comparable stand-up pouch because the closure is a sourced certified component with its own lead time.
