Kraft Pouches

Paper on the outside, with a layer behind it that keeps air and moisture out.

Kraft Pouches packaging formats

Kraft pouches are paper on the outside with a functional laminate behind it. The paper is what the customer sees and touches; the layer behind it is what actually keeps the product fresh. Buying kraft for the look alone and ignoring what sits behind it is how brands end up with stale product in a beautiful bag.

The two builds we make. Kraft/PET/AL/PE at 120 micron carries an aluminium foil layer and gives a high barrier — this is the one for coffee, tea and ground spices, where oxygen and light both matter. Kraft/PET/PE at 115 micron has no foil and a medium barrier, which is enough for dry fruits, namkeen and confectionery that will move quickly. Both are matte by nature; kraft does not take a gloss finish, and anyone offering you one is laminating over the paper you were paying for.

Printing. Up to eight colours on the foil build, six on the plain one. Kraft prints differently from white film: the brown substrate shifts every colour laid over it, so pale tints go muddy and true white is only possible as a separate opaque layer. Designs that work on kraft use few colours, heavy line weights and let the paper itself be the background. We will flag artwork that fights the substrate before it goes to cylinder.

Windows. A clear window can be die-cut into the front panel so buyers see the product. It costs a little barrier and a little light protection, so it belongs on dry fruits and snacks rather than on coffee.

Ordering. Minimum 1,000 pieces, lead time 18 to 20 working days. Both builds take a press-to-close zip and a tear notch as standard, and both stand unsupported when filled.

Why brands choose kraft. It reads as natural and small-batch, which is exactly right for tea, spices, granola and anything sold on provenance. It is not, on its own, compostable or plastic-free — the barrier layer behind the paper is plastic or foil, and we will not let you print a claim that says otherwise. If plastic-free is the requirement, look at our paper bags instead and accept the shorter shelf life that comes with them.
