Paper Bags

Two genuinely different products that share one material. Both are paper all the way through, with no plastic laminate — which is the point of them, and also their limitation.

Kraft carrier bags. Virgin kraft paper at 150 GSM with twisted paper handles, printed up to four colours, matte. The retail carrier: takeaway, grocery, gifting, anything a customer walks out holding. 150 GSM is a real carrier weight — it holds a filled load without the handle pulling through, which is the failure mode of the thin bags that get given away with a single item.

Grease-proof bags. 60 GSM grease-resistant paper, printed up to two colours, open-topped. For samosa, fried snacks, sandwiches and bakery. The grease resistance is in the paper itself, not a coating, so the bag stays compostable and there is no plastic window or liner to separate before it is thrown away.

Plastic free, and what that actually means. These are the only packs in our range we will describe that way. They are paper, they are recyclable, and the grease-proof grade is compostable. That also means they have no moisture barrier, no oxygen barrier and no shelf life to speak of. A paper bag is for a product that will be eaten today or carried home this afternoon. It is not a substitute for a pouch, and if a supplier tells you their kraft pouch is plastic free, the barrier layer behind the paper says otherwise.

Printing on kraft. Same constraint as our kraft pouches: the brown substrate shifts every colour laid over it. Few colours, bold shapes, and let the paper be the background. Four colours is the ceiling on the carrier and two on the grease-proof, and designs that respect that print better than designs that fight it.

Ordering. Carriers from 1,000 pieces in 8 working days; grease-proof from 5,000 in 12. The grease-proof minimum is higher because it runs on a different, narrower web.
