Three Side Seal Pouches

A three side seal pouch is the simplest construction there is: two sheets of film sealed along three edges, filled through the fourth, then sealed. No gussets, no base fold. It lies flat, it costs less per piece than any standing format, and for a small weight it is almost always the right answer.

The two builds. PET/AL/PE at 90 micron is foil lined with a high barrier — for single-dose powders, ORS, spice mixes and anything that must stay dry and unoxidised until the moment it is opened. PET/PE at 75 micron has a medium barrier and can take a press-to-close zip, which turns it into a small flat resealable pouch rather than a single-use sachet.

Single dose versus resealable. These are two different products from one construction, and it is worth being clear which you are buying. A sachet is opened once, emptied and thrown away: it wants the foil build, a tear notch and no zip. A flat pouch is opened repeatedly: it wants the PET/PE build and a zip, and it competes with a small stand-up pouch on price while taking less shelf depth.

Form-fill-seal. The foil build is available as film for your own FFS line rather than as finished pouches, if you are filling in-house. That changes the economics completely at volume — see our printed rolls if that is the direction you are going.

Ordering. Minimum 2,000 pieces on the zip version and 5,000 on the sachet, lead time 14 working days on both. Printing runs up to six colours, gloss.

What people pack. Ketchup, shampoo, spice mixes, ORS, single-dose powders, samples, single servings and supplements. Sampling is the underrated use: a three side seal sachet is the cheapest way to put your product in a stranger's hand, and at 5,000 pieces the per-unit cost is low enough to give away.
